Under the beautiful direction of Ryan McBryde the production doesn't rely on elaborate special effects and pointless props. Instead, clever staging, colourful costumes and imaginative props allow children's imaginations to do the rest. Joe Stilgoe’ score is upbeat, catchy and most importantly memorable, with several moments where the audience couldn't help but clap and sing along. Katie Sykes’ choreography is punchy and simple enough for the children to copy if they want to. What impressed me most was the pacing. At around an hour, it never outstays its welcome, with enough humour, music and gentle audience interaction to keep even younger children focused from beginning to end.

Cadogan Hall is an excellent venue for family theatre, offering clear sightlines and an intimate feel that makes every child feel close to the action. Whether your little one is already a fan of Julia Donaldson's books or meeting Zog for the first time, this production is full of heart, laughter and positive messages about perseverance, being kind and most importantly believing in yourself. It’s the perfect family outing that will send everyone home with a smile, think children’s theatre with class. Time to leave the iPad at home and go and make some memories, it’s so good it will have the children and adults talking about it all the way home.
