Proud Cabaret - Cabaret Allstars : Disco
"If you are after a night to be wined, dined and entertained in a sexy setting then look no further!"
We were invited to enjoy the talent that Proud Cabaret in Embankment has to offer. If you are after a night to be wined, dined and entertained in a sexy setting then look no further! Close to the Embankment tube station and opposite the Thames, this gorgeous venue serves glitz and glamour from the offset.
Proud Cabaret have multiple venues across the South of England including a Brighton space which is also very popular. The lighting was dimmed to a sultry setting and they have a cloakroom available convenient for storing any coats and bags at no extra cost. The sparkly gold theme inside immediately sets the chic tone and sexy ambience as soon as you enter.
From the moment the doors opened at 6:30pm, the dedicated team worked hard to ensure the atmosphere was electric and the guests were well attended to. If anything, they were a little ‘too attentive’ at times by prematurely taking plates and glasses.
The theme of the cabaret show is Disco so we were treated to a soundtrack of funky throwbacks to groove along to, some even sang live by the resident singer, also known as The Mistress.
Amy Black who starred as The Mistress and hostess for the evening made us feel comfortable and included with a good level of audience participation. She was a playful and seemed experienced at bringing energy to the room.
Throughout the evening we were presented with a plethora of theatre including fire shows, burlesque, acrobatic acts, silk, hair hanging, dancers and live singers. The final half an hour was a chance for the guests to boogie and enjoy tunes of the DJ and even meet and greet the cast.
One notable moment was the dance competition whereby they took three members of the audience onto the stage to battle it out with their best moves. I think we were very lucky as it seems we had a trained dancer bust out an unexpected box-split roll before our very eyes!
I did find the quality of the costumes to be a little less than desired, bordering on fancy dress. I believe that with higher budget outfits, it would easily raise the level of sophistication to match the beautiful venue.
The food available at Proud Cabaret was outstanding and a sure highlight for me. They offer a serving of up to 5 courses with both meat, vegetarian and vegan options available. I opted for the 5 course vegan menu and found most of the dishes to be absolutely delicious.
Another thing I did appreciate was the appropriate intervals in between courses, leaving enough time for us to digest not only the delectable food but also the talent displayed too.
Whether you’re a couple, a group of friends or a party of people, this elegant venue showcases arousing acts creating a memorable night perfect for celebrations of all kinds.
