Nikita Kuzmin- Midnight Dancer

Nikita Kuzmin has become a household name since joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing in 2021, and now they are taking to the stage in their first ever tour! It’s a show full of high energy, electricity and killer moves!

Midnight Dancer is a classic romance story, similar to Cinderella with dramatic highs and lows all culminating in a masquerade ball. We follow a female Movie Star (Andrea Toma) under the control of her bad guy agent (Seamus McIntosh) as she meets the hero Nikita who saves her from her sadness. The story is weak at best but the dancing is why we’re all here though and it does not disappoint!

Nikita has choreographed the show along with Tom Jackson Greaves and they have done an exceptional job, from big group numbers to hauntingly beautiful solos there is such a diverse range of styles from Latin to Jive to modern hip-hop it’s hard to know what’s coming next and each section is more breath-taking than the previous.

The soundtrack to the evening is filled with dance-floor fillers and stunning vocals from singer Rebecca Lisewski who shines especially during some of the musical theatre numbers that have been included such as ‘Roxanne’ and ‘When the Chips Are Down’. It’s the perfect soundtrack to the show and will leave you singing all the songs for days afterwards.

Although this is penned as Nikita’s show, he by no means does it alone. He is accompanied by a troupe of dancers at the top of their game who put in an incredible amount of work over the 2-hour show (I’m exhausted just watching them!). There were some sections where Nikita addressed the audience directly and although he has a shining personality these sections felt a little awkward and unnecessary and took away from the story of the evening.

This is a great show for any dance fans, especially if you love Strictly Come Dancing! You won’t be disappointed with the incredible talent on stage, it’s a marvel to watch the skilled dancers strut their stuff! It’s a joyous evening from start to finish!!
